Study Of Character Education Management For Students At The Kabaena Islamic Boarding School

Abstract

This study aims to examine the management of character education for students at the Kabaena Islamic Boarding School. This boarding school was chosen because it is the first Islamic educational institution on Kabaena Island to integrate the Islamic education curriculum with general education. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through participatory observation, interviews and documentation. The data sources in this study consisted of people, places and papers. Data analysis in this study was carried out in four ways, namely data collection, data categorisation, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that education management at the Kabaena Islamic Boarding School was carried out through four functions of education management: planning, organising, implementing and supervising. The character education programme is implemented through routine activities such as tahfidz, congregational prayers, nightly evaluations, and language learning in the afternoon PMB programme. The methods used include role modelling (uswah), habituation, advice (mau'idzah), and a promise and threat approach (targhib wa tarhib). Interviews with boarding school leaders, teachers, and students show that the approach applied is effective in shaping the character of students, although there are still challenges such as the limited number of diniyyah teachers. Regular evaluation is key to maintaining the sustainability of the programme.
