Penerapan Sistem Klasifikasi Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) dalam Meningkatkan Aksesibilitas Koleksi Skripsi dan Jurnal di Pepustakaan STIS Syubbanul Wathon

Libraries, as centers of information, play an important role in supporting academic activities and the development of science. The management of collections, particularly theses and journals, which are not yet well structured at the STIS Syubbanul Wathon Library, is a major challenge in improving accessibility for library users. This study employs the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach with four stages: discovery, dream, design, and destiny, to optimize collection management through the implementation of the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. The findings reveal that prior to implementation, the collection was organized conventionally based on academic programs without a systematic subject classification. Through librarian training, collection coding using DDC, and the development of a digital catalog (OPAC), the library successfully classified over 500 thesis and journal titles. This implementation reduced collection search time from an average of 6 minutes to 2 minutes, increased circulation frequency and OPAC usage, and improved user satisfaction.
